NATHAN
ELLIOT
BUNKS
IN WITH CHALKY
Takeout asks - is
this a mistake?
Former team and league trainer, Nathan Elliot
has secured temporary accommodation with 2007 premiership
player, Allan (two l's) McGlinn after recently moving to the
Northern Territory city of Darwin.
Elliot said he has been there a week and
seems to be paying for everything. "Chalky is great
bloke, knows a lot of people, some bad dudes too but even in the
short space of time I has been here he has me paying the rent on
this place now" Elliot said.
"I mean, I don't mind a fair thing but
when Chalky brings home some of his darlings from work who call
him Mr Yummy (what a f****** laugh),
I get a bit worried. I have taken to locking my wallet in
the car in case some of them come back after the Chalk wanted to
introduce me to one called 'Wellington Boot'. I
must be missing something here, I don't get that???"
Elliot has just been transferred to Darwin in
his employment and is keen to find a new love in his life.
Advice from Takeout: Just be
careful. That bloke has more points than a porcupine "Your
shout Nathan - do I have to tell you again?" says the Chalk. |

BOMBERS
PUT
SOS OUT TO
STEWY
AND DARREN BLACKMORE
An urgent call has gone out
to Stuart Cameron and Darren Blackmore to get them back from the
UK for this week's encounter in the first semi.
The two have been holidaying
in style in the old country but with the failing results over
the past couple of weeks the match committee is seeking out
qualified faces who can supplement the team for the semis.
Stewy is well qualified and would have become a life
member this year if the club hadn't have changed the rules while
Blackmore, not actually a big contributor when it comes to
paying fees, has been training in the UK ready to make a big
impression on his return. It is believed they have hired
an exercise bike during the flight back from London to keep
their fitness up.
Another the club is talking to is 'Moneybags McLean' who
moved to Perth to take up a job with a leading finance company
and believe you me he is on big dollars, so he could afford to
fly himself back!!! |

BOMBERS
DOWN AGAINST DOGS
Saturday was not a successful
day out for the Bombers; defeated in three grades.
Despite this the firsts gave a good showing considering they
were without a number of their key players but a six goals to
one by the Bulldogs in the first quarter virtually put paid to
any chance they might have had of victory.
Young Hugh Wells had a great game chasing the ball and providing
accurate kicking in his delivery. Draino was another who
performed well but at times erratic.
Corey Shackleton was again
solid in the back line marking
most that came his was and his play was robust and solid in the
typical defenders mode.
The loss has not dented the teams position and they will play
Warners Bay again this Saturday in the first semi final.

Coach John Carpenter was lost

Warners Bay.
John said it wasn't the loss but the gross lack of commitment
from the majority of the players.
"I know we had a lot out but I don't think the team has
performed that poorly for years" Carpenter said.

UNDER 18s
DOWN ON NUMBERS
The Under 18 were down on
numbers for the last game but played well when, under such
circumstances it is difficult to do so.
Luke Freemantle and Brendan Lewis were singled out as the team's
best for the game but there were others.
These guys played well all season and but for a bit of extra
commitment from some, they would have finished much higher on
the ladder. Theres always next year.

McVEIGH
NAMED
CAPTAIN OF
30 YEAR TEAM
The name, McVeigh, was
again in the headlines, when Tony McVeigh was named as captain
of the club's 30 year team before almost 200 people at the
Bombers Anniversary Dinner held at the Bay Sports Club on
Saturday Night.
This capped a great day for Killarney Vale after they
defeated traditional rivals, Gosford, 23.10 (148) to 9.4 (58) at
Adelaide Street Oval before one of the the biggest crowds ever
seen at the ground.
Former players and officials came from all over the
country
to join in the celebrations at which ex-juniors, Mark and Jarrad
McVeigh, both now playing for separate AFL Clubs, were present.
Whilst Tony McVeigh was named captain of the club's Dream
Team, current leader Pat Schell was chosen as Vice Captain.
The team includes:
Full back
line: John Carpenter, Russell Stimson, Sean Killen;
Half Backs:
Pat Schell, Shane Reid, Tony McVeigh;
Centre:
Warren Maguire, Matthew Daniel, Clint Austerberry;
Half Forwards:
Dane Amidy, Rex Imrie, Geoff Cann;
Full forward
line: Jason Edgley, Mick Smith, Alan Martin;
Rucks:
Paul Harrison, Mitchell Gray, Garry Richardson;
Interchange:
Mick Thurston, Corey Shackleton, Rick White, Alan McGlinn.
Coach:
Peter King, Asst Coach: Mick French,
Team Manager:
Alan Elsworthy, Runner: Jim Richardson.
Trainers: Sean
Riedel, Bob Brown.
Six out of the team are
current players whilst all had to fit a criteria laid down by
the selectors.
HARRISON
GETS
DISTINGUISHED MERIT AWARD
Former captain and coach,
Paul Harrison was awarded the club's first Distinguished
Merit Award on Saturday Night.
This award was only recently
established to recognize people, more particularly players
within the club, who have served above and beyond their
positions.
The criteria for it's selection included:
1. Has
played over 100 games.
2. His
contribution has altered or directed the course
of the club.
3. His
commitment and sacrifice to the club is
unquestioned.
Harrison easily fitted these conditions. He coached for
three seasons, including one premiership, played 186 games
kicking 174 goals for the club. He won the club's B & F on
four occasions and runner-up twice. 'Wal' is still warmly regarded
within club circles.
MARK AND JARRAD
McVEIGH
JOIN IN CELEBRATIONS
As part of the AFL's 150th
match celebrations, Sydney
Swans's Jarrad McVeigh and Essendon's Mark McVeigh attended the
club's several anniversary events over the weekend.
As part of this they joined
in with all the juniors presenting awards and giving autographs
and supported the club's efforts to make the day such a success. |

BAY
SPORTS CLUB
SUPPORTS BOMBERS
The Bay Sports Club has
decided to get behind the Bombers as it's major sponsor for
2008. The club, which was formerly known as the Bateau
Bay Bowling Club and since taken over by Canterbury
Bulldogs, are keen to involve clubs like ours in their community
programme.
Killarney Vale Bombers are keen to foster a further association
with the Sports Club and have already discussed additional
events and other functions with Sports Club Officials. |

CATHO PUB SPONSORS SENIORS
Catherine Hill Bay Hotel has
signed on to sponsor the club and first grade side this season.
Club Sponsorship Manager, Tom Aafjes announced the arrangement
this week. The club will visit the hotel following away
games and on other arranged occasions. The Catho Pub logo
will get the major sponsors logo on the club's new website as
soon as it comes online. |
|
AAFJES SAND AND SOIL GET RESERVES
The
club's Sponsorship Manager, Tom Aafjes has come to an agreement
with his family over the sponsorship of the reserve grade for
2008 and Gold Sponsorship of the Club.
His father, Mick, played a big part in the last few seasons in
his faith in the club and gave a good deal of support and
backing to the Bombers which was repaid with a senior grade
premiership.
His Tuggerah based company not only does work and delivers on
the Central Coast but also has a lot of business in Newcastle
where it is breaking new ground in the environmental materials
business which he says is growing by the day. |
IT
DOESN'T GET
ANY BETTER
Bombers win Flag
In a game
where the underdog got the nod,
Killarney Vale defeated Newcastle
City in the grand final to win a
game against all odds. They won 9.9
(63) to 4.17 (41), their first
premiership in the BDAFL and their
last since 1998.
The Bombers had played City three
times this season and were soundly
beaten however the co-coaches, Steve
Cutler and Pat Schell were at pains
to see their side win.
The game started with the Bombers
winning the toss and kicking with
the wind.
With that came four unanswered goals
from Rick White, Jackson Ireland (2)
and Dane Amidy. From there it was
almost a game of 'keepings off'. We
had
the lead and the Blues had to get
there.
The rain came and made conditions
very hard to mark and get a hold of
the football.
City tried but so too did the
Bombers and they played well in
maintaining the lead and staying
well in front.
Dane Amidy starred for the Bombers.
Captain, Pat Schell was another who
was cleaning up in the backline and
shooting the ball down to Jackson
Ireland, Wal Harrison and and Glen
Page. They played well.
The match got tight but so did the
Bombers defence with a stirling
performance from Corey Shackleton,
Michael Clarke and Nathan Chaplin.
The side lasted the pressure to win
the game and the premiership.
